J&B’s standard bodies possess many upgrades others do not offer. We use premium roll-up doors, a 2” pine floor, and our rear door frames and uprights are constructed in conjunction with galvanneal steel. Our FRP walls are gel coated on both sides, whereas most companies only use gel coat on one side. All of our fasteners are zinc-plated to protect against corrosion. We use heavy-duty cast corner caps. Level entry rear threshold. All J&B’s bodies are tailored to our customers’ specific needs.

FRP has been used in the manufacturing of semi-trailers, piggyback trailers and shipping containers with amazing results. FRP is ideally suited for these purposes because it will stand up to more abuse than Aluminum sheet construction and FRP is much more economical to repair. We use only FRP that is GEL COATED on BOTH sides to give protection inside and out against water damage, humidity and salt air.

Benefits of an FRP Body:
FRP Bodies are versatile. The insulating properties & corrosion resistance add cargo flexibility. FRP is strong and durable. More Impact resistant than aluminum Bodies. FRP resists damage. FRP is easier to repair. FRP reduces cargo damage because the smooth interior surfaces do not snag or impact cargo. FRP means more cubage because FRP eliminates posts and plywood liners. FRP is easy to clean. More difficult for dirt and moisture to hold on and is steam cleanable. FRP bodies are perfect for graphics. FRP bodies absolutely will not rust. Resists deterioration from rain, salt, sun, and chemicals. FRP exteriors are smooth. Wind tunnel test shows a smooth exterior is 12% easier to pull than exterior post trailers. This results in lower fuel costs. Less wear and tear on parts.
What material is better for a Cutaway, Aluminum or FRP?
Both materials have pros and cons, it depends on your preference. Aluminum is slightly more expensive on a new body, and easier to damage. However, it is much less expensive to repair when it is damaged. FRP is initially less expensive, harder to damage, and more expensive to repair. FRP also provides a smooth surface that lends itself well to graphics.
